Entry Fees

Entry fees for submissions to the SHORT / MUSIC-BASED categories are:

  • Early-Bird £10/€15   EB Student £7.50/€10
  • Regular £15/€20   R Student £10/€15

Entry fees for submissions to the FEATURE category are:

  • Early-Bird £20/€25   EB Student £15/€20
  • Regular £25/€30   R Student £20/€25

Films entered will also be eligible for an Un Certain Regard award (films of note which deserve special recognition)

  1. Submissions for the Van d’Or Awards 2013 must be from within European countries.
  2. All non English-language entries must include subtitles.
  3. Entries for the Short category must be no longer than 20 minutes in length.
  4. Entries for the Feature-length category must be between 30 – 120 minutes in length.
  5. Entries for the Music-based category must be no longer than 10 minutes in length.
  6. Entries for the Student Film in Transit award must comply with the relevant terms & conditions of submission.
  7. Entries should have been completed after December 2011.
  8. It is the filmmaker’s responsibility to obtain rights, clearances and permissions. Cannes in a Van (CIAV) assumes no responsibility for violation of copyright law.
  9. The submitting filmmaker must be directly responsible for the creative control and direction of the project. Collaborative efforts may be recognized and acknowledged, but only the submitting filmmaker will be awarded any applicable prize.
  10. Films should be provided on DVD or hi-res digital file and should be clearly labeled with the title, running time, WAB tracking number (if applicable), and a contact email.
  11. DVD submissions should be sent to Cannes in a Van, Premier Floor, 4 Ravey Street, London, EC2A 4QP, UK.
  12. Each entry must be accompanied by the following: Entry fee + Submission documentation
  13. If selected, confirmation email will be sent to the contact person provided.
  14. Location, date/time and number of times film screened are at the discretion of the festival. CIAV cannot guarantee that the film selected will be shown in Cannes.
  15. CIAV in no way guarantees the return of any entry and no guarantee is therefore expressed. Submitted entry copies will not be returned due to the high volume of entries received.
  16. CIAV cannot accept responsibility for loss of, or damage to DVDs while they are on loan to us.
  17. Entries may be disqualified for the following: Inappropriate material / Incomplete application materials & documentation / Submissions on unacceptable media / No application fee enclosed with entry. In the case of disqualification, an attempt will be made by the festival staff to contact the entrant. This will allow an opportunity for the disqualification to be remedied.
  18. In the case of questions, disputes or misunderstandings, the decisions of the Directors of the Festival are final. No correspondence will be entered into with reference to this issue.
  19. Entrants shall indemnify, defend and hold the Festival, its agents and its representatives harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses which may be incurred by reason of any breach of these representations, or arising out of any matter contained in the media or otherwise by the Festival’s use of the media.
  20. Participating in the film festival implies acceptance and understanding of festival terms and conditions.
  21. The final closing date for all submissions is 16th August 2013. Entries must be received by that date or posted dated no later than 16.08.13. to be considered.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Your entry implies that you have the legal right to represent and submit this film for consideration, and that you have read and accept the Festival regulations. By submitting your entry you consent to, and have obtained all necessary consents for (and agree to provide copies of the same on request), all or any part of the production being reproduced by the Organisers and/or any other parties authorised by the Organisers and/or broadcast by a third party in any media (e.g. press, television, internet or telephone download), solely in relation to, and in support of, the festival provided that, wherever reasonably possible, the author of the work is given appropriate notification and credit.* Entries will not be used in any way for commercial purposes. *Please note that we will notify you if we intend to curate your work in programmes outside of the festival screenings and you will be given the opportunity to opt out. Cannes in a Van (CIAV) reserves the right to include portions of films accepted to the festival for promotional purposes. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Cannes in a Van, The Van d’Or Awards and Ford from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered. By entering into the festival, the entrant represents and warrants that: a. it has the authority to enter the film in the festival and to grant to the festival the rights required to submit and screen the film. b. it owns all rights, title and interest, including the copyright and all intellectual property rights, in and to the film being submitted to the festival and has the right to distribute, exhibit and promote the film in and or through all media formats now known or hereafter devised, including, but not limited to, the Internet throughout the universe. c. no material in the film being submitted by the entrant to the festival is libelous or defamatory or violates any right of privacy or publicity of any person and the full use of rights in such film will not violate any rights, including copyright or moral rights, of any person, firm or corporation. d. it has complied with all the general rules and terms and conditions for the festival. I, the undersigned, acknowledge and agree as follows: a. I have read, understood, and complied with all eligibility requirements. b. The information provided as part of the submission and application process is correct to the best of my knowledge. c. I give CIAV the authority to use the submitted publicity materials for the purpose of promoting the film and the Festival. d. I understand, as the authorized representative, any prizes will be awarded to the director(s) or relevant parties of the winning films where relevant. By submitting an entry to CIAV, each entrant expressly grants permission to use their name, likeness, home country, etc. The waiver for use of material made at the time of submission is limited to the Festival year that the entry is submitted to.
