Cannes in a Van Film Festival 2013: blog 3

Day 3

The sun is out! We are well and truly soaking up the vitamin D and warming our feathers. We woke waking up feeling positive albeit with a muzzled head from the wine we’d been drinking the night before. The rain wasn’t beating down and flooding the campsite for a change.

We managed to pull ourselves from our beds and begin the busy work day. Andy had some pressing work to do and more cables to buy for the van. Ross was on editing duties (video content can be found on our Vimeo), barely being able to pull himself away from is editing station. Finally Oliver was wired into the Mac as he was updating the website (if there are any inconsistencies we’ll know who to blame) and getting some of that Twitter love out there.

As we all were busy doing our own jobs, we didn’t notice the time as it was washing away and slipping into night. After a rushed meal and a quick change in attire we were zooming off in the direction of the ever busy Croisette. Even though we believed that there wouldn’t be any place to park (the first Friday of the festival is as manic as you can expect) we managed to pull up outside the very same ice cream shop we were in front of the night before (we even had a chance to sample some of their finest flavors).

We rolled out the carpet and lined up the chairs and prepared for the night ahead. As the previous night, the new Transit drew much attention from passers-by who couldn’t help but stop and gawk. Mesmerized by the bright colors, flash presentation, and super-sound-system. We also shot an interview with New Zealand director Alex Galvin, who’s currently in Cannes with his second feature film Eternity (you can find the full interview our Vimeo page, but check out the teaser for Eternity here). As the night went on and the streets began to quieten down, we packed up shop and headed home.

But before we go,  if there are any filmmakers who are rubbing shoulders with the world of cinema, don’t be shy and come say hello. We’re looking for more interviews with filmmakers and indie films to screen so if you’d like some self promotion, stop by the big yellow Ford Transit – it’s filled with film!
