#16 in Student Film Month is ‘Tell Tale’ dir. Mike Middleton-Downer (2011). Written by Michael Holden, journalist for Esquire and Vice, Tell Tale is a short film created for the 2011 Sci-Fi London 48hour film challenge. Each team was given a title, a line of dialogue, a prop to source and then had two days to write, shoot, edit and deliver a complete film. Number 15 in our selection of student films for our Student Film Month is George Lucas‘ Freiheit – one of a handful of short films he made while studying at USC Film School. It shows the attempted escape across the Berlin border of a German student whilst the soundtrack talks about freedom. Our fourteenth film in Student Film Month is ‘Robots of Brixton’ dir. Kibwe Tavares (2011). Brixton has degenerated into a disregarded area inhabited by London’s new robot workforce – robots built and designed to carry out all of the tasks which humans are no longer inclined to do. Number 9 in our Student Film Month is this charming short animation from Aparajita R, submitted to us from Canada. Trunkated is a film set in a surreal world of floating elephants and motherships. It follows the story of one such elephant that falls down onto unfamiliar land, and his journey back where he belongs. The seventh film to feature in our Student Film Month is this short from independent animator Michael Hughes, produced as his degree film from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2005. ‘Adore’ is an emotive tale of a boy on the threshold of love and affection.
