STUDENT FILM IN TRANSIT 2013
Launching in September 2013, watch this space!
Participating students must produce a 2 minute in length short, animation or music-based film on a set brief (TBC). Because the award is entitled ‘Student Film in Transit’, references to existing cinema and the ‘film landscape’ are actively encouraged. Prizes include over £1k of filmmaking equipment.
Please Note: Entries must be made by students in a current program (Age 16 +) or those who have made the film within two years of graduating. There is no entry fee for this competition.
Before entering your film please read the submission guidelines here.
Last year’s winner of the Student Film in Transit Award, Alastair Aloo (pictured) said this about the awards…
“The Van d’Ors was a great opportunity and a chance for me to reflect on my work. The whole process was really inspiring and exciting and I would recommend any student filmmakers or animators to get involved. Graduate life at the moment is not easy. I think creative graduates in particular need to have a deep self belief in their work as there is a lot of rejection, they need to work harder than ever and finally not give up.’
The 2012 winning film Gentrification is ‘an abstract film about the constant movement of people in cities due to the effects of gentrification and the movement of poorer communities further out in place of creative communities, ‘trendy’ individuals and the commercialism that eventually follows.’
Alastair walked away on the night with over £1k worth of camera equipment and a shiny gold Transit statuette. Not bad for a student on a budget!
We look forward to seeing the results of this year’s competition.
