Interview: Philip Ilson, The London Short Film Festival

Philip Ilson is perhaps the hardest working man on the indie festival circuit. A hugely respected champion of grass roots filmmaking and independent film exhibition, he has played an integral role in bringing short film to the masses via his curation of The London Short Film Festival, the innovative Halloween Society and latterly The Branchage Film Festival in Jersey. He also programs the BFI’s short film content. Phew! How did he have time to be on the Van d’Or Awards Jury in 2012?!

Here he talks to Cannes in a Van about the festival scene and why it’s still important for filmmakers.
